Hello everyoneeeee *giant wave & cyber hug*!

As the title says, it really has been a while! I just checked the date of my last post and I literally squealed!

It’s been 1 whole year and I finally feel like it is the perfect time to get back on the blogging bus!

After experiencing an extreme case of the old “bloggers-block” and having several changes in my working life, I decided to take a much needed break from the blogging world. I needed to sit back, relax and focus on enjoying life, create new career goals and make a few of my tiny dreams come true. Fast forward a year to today and I feel I have definitely out-done myself and achieved all my goals. What a perfect time to be back… For me, timing is everything!

I spent the year with my loving family, building relationships, exploring new restaurants and bars, developing new interests, attending many crazy events and so much more. 2015 has been an amazing year and was the perfect time for me to have a break.

I always knew that I would eventually get back into writing and blogging, but I knew it would be when I was very ready. I started “Fashinate Me” when I was 20 years old and I am now 25. So as you can understand I have grown up with my blog and life has changed over the years. I have learned soooo many things about myself this year, and it’s been soooo AMAZINGGG *Patrick Starr Voice* (Empashis on “sooo” haha!).

Enjoying life away from blogging and taking time to look inwards is so important (at least it was for me!). I was able fix things that were stopping me from growing into the person I am now (personally & professionally). If I can say I have learned anything, I would say that it is to always live in my truth 100% of the time, to stay grounded, be ME and to pray!

Before I continue rambling, I'd love to round up by expressing how excited for the new year I am and I look forward to all the things God has planned for me!

It’s amazing that I have been able to share my interests with you all over the years. So here I am... back documenting all the things I love once again and I am so honoured to be able to share it with you all going forward.

I guess old habits do really die hard! ;-)

Hey Guys,

How have you all been doing today? Hope you’ve all been well!

Today I’ll be answering the questions in the Too Much Information Tag! I thought it would be a great way for us to catch up and for you guys to know a little bit more about me in a ‘girly chat’ kind of way.

Tags are great fun, as a YouTube video fanatic I have been obsessing over different tags recently and I loveee them! Just a quick background for those that do not know a word of what I am going on about; Tags are a bunch of questions put together that you answer and at the end you ‘tag’ your fave bloggers and nominate them to answer the same questions afterwards!

It would have been absolutely better if I created a video for this tag, I know, I know! Bear with me whilst I mentally prepare for the crazy world of YouTube… I’ll get there :-) (In the meantime, feel free to subscribe to my channel; as I think it would be a great idea to eventually begin creating some visual content to accompany my blog).

So here we go! Grab a cup of tea and enjoy the read while I give you too much information…

1: What are you wearing?

Cream oversized knitted cardigan, Deep blue denim jeans, Pointed black heeled booties

2: Ever been in love?

YASSSS! (lol)

3: Ever had a terrible breakup?

I think at the time I thought it was terrible, looking back I think I was probably being a drama queen haha! Or maybe time (God) has just healed me :-)

4: How tall are you?

I am 6 foot tall … But today I’m probably about 6 foot 2 inches in these boots lol

5: How much do you weigh?

I weigh 10 stone?... I’m really not sure but I remember that being about right

6: Any tattoos?

7: Any piercings?

Yes, just the one on each ear lobe for earrings.

8: OTP?

I had to look up the meaning of this and found out that it means “One True Pairing” (i.e Your fave fictional character couple). My favourite fictional couple have got to be Michael and Jay Kyle from My Wife and Kids. I was just talking about them the other day, they had so many funny one liners and I enjoyed watching the show as a teen.

9: Favourite show?

I do not necessarily watch TV. I spend a lot of my time watching YouTube videos so I don’t have a favourite show. But I do spend my time watching some guilty pleasure shows like Real Housewives of Atlanta, Love and Hip Hop & Bad Girls Club.
10: Favourite bands?

It’s so hard to pick one artist that I like! So once again I’ll cheat and list them: D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, John Legend, Lauren Hill… I could go on.

11: Something you miss?

I missss so many things from childhood! I think I miss coming home after primary school to watch CITV, waking up on Saturday morning to watch Live and Kicking, I miss Panda Pops (though I probably wouldn’t drink them anymore, I'd like to buy one for nostalgic reasons), I miss Jacqueline Wilson and Goosebumps books, I miss going on Bitesize to play games when I really should have been studying, I miss Miniclip games, I miss using MSN messenger emojis; "(*) (8) (L)", I miss filling the notes pages of my homework diary up with useless doodles and I miss passing secret notes around class in primary school (sorry Momma, you know I have always been mischievous). I definitely miss the mischief and adventures that I did as a young’un!

12: Favourite song?

D’Angelo – Brown Sugar OR John Legend - Take Me Away
13: How old are you?

I am 25 years old

14: Zodiac sign?

I am not interested in zodiacs anymore but I am an Aries! :-)

15: Quality you look for in a partner?

I’m not looking ;-) haha *high fives self*

16: Favourite Quote?

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” – Proverbs 27:17

17: Favourite actor/actress?

Angela Basset OR Meryl Streep

18: Favourite Colour?

19: Loud music or soft?

That is such a hard question. I want to say both depending on my mood, but because I have to choose… I will choose soft music.

20: Where do you go when you’re sad?

I go to my bed and sulk then I trot along to my mother’s room to speak with her

21: How long does it take you to shower?

I do not take too long at all; I think I take about 5 minutes.

22: How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

This also doesn’t take me too long. On a typical Mon-Fri working week it should take me 20-30mins. However, if we are talking weekends or going out, well, that’s a whole other story! I’m not sure how long I take but I take long enough to annoy my other half lol!

23: Ever been in a physical fight?

24: Turn on?
Manners, smile, politeness, easy going, sense of humour, maturity and being grounded in who you are all wrapped together in one cute little package!

25: Turn off?

Not just for the opposite sex but for anyone: Ego, arrogance, rudeness, bad breath, BO, lack of respect for others, selfishness (lol) I could go on…

26: The reason I joined YouTube?

I will turn this question into “The Reason I Started my Blog?” I’ve always had a natural interest in fashion and beauty from a young age. But the pinnacle point was during my marketing internship with Warehouse. I was so engulfed in fashion and wanted to document what I was learning, as well as keep a personal style diary.

27: Fears?

Wasps!!! OMG I hate the buzzing sound. As a matter of fact, any insect that buzzes lol we cannot be friends!

28: Last thing that made you cry?

Probably something ridiculous, I am an overly emotional person lol!

29: Last time you said you loved someone?

30: Meaning behind your YouTube/Blog Name?

After sitting down for ages trying to conjure up a blog name, the idea of being “fascinated by fashion” came to mind and that is where the name came from.

31: Last book you read?

Damn Good Advice (For People With Talent!): How To Unleash Your Creative Potential by America's Master Communicator, George Lois

32: The book you’re currently reading?

The Bible

33: Last show you watched?

Real Housewives of Atlanta … My guilty pleasure

34: Last person you talked to?

My mum!

35: The relationship between you and the person you last texted?

Let me have a quick check… My friend Kris from University. Hi Kris if you’re reading this!

36: Favourite food?

Anything Nigerian will do! I do love most others foods though!

37: Place you want to visit?

I would love to visit Bora Bora, Santorini and Cancun! They are definitely on the bucket list.

38: Last place you were?

My office!

39: Do you have a crush?

YASSSS! Well… that’s the short answer (lol)

40: Last time you kissed someone?

Probably when I saw my other half or when my cute niece and nephew came over to visit!

41: Last time you were insulted?

I get insulted all the time by my family because I try my most to annoy them lol My mum detests the naked dashes I do from bathroom to my bedroom when I’ve forgotten my towel… She calls me a bush girl. I definitely take the title as the family clown

42: Favourite flavour of sweet?

I loveee mint humbugs! To be fair, anything sweet is fine with me.

43: What instruments do you play?
Piano. I really need more practice haha

44: Favourite piece of jewellery?
Earrings as they make you look more awake and brighten your face.

45: Last sport you played?

46: Last song you sang?

Justin Bieber – “What Do You Mean?” – I really do not know why that is stuck in my head :-/

47: Favourite chat up line?
“GIRL, you’re thicker than a bowl of oatmeal”…. Those who know what I’m on about will get the joke LOL

48: Have you ever used it?

No way! Haha, if I knew that was going to be the next question I would have told you that I don’t actually use “chat-up lines”. I generally find it easy just speaking to anyone interested in great conversation.

49: Last time you hung out with anyone?

I hang out with my loved ones and closest pals all the time, literally!

50: Who should answer these questions next?

So just to follow the tradition of tagging, I tag Desiree, Grace, Aysha, Safira & Grace!

Visit their blogs here:

Hope you all enjoyed the read, more tag’s will be on the blog very very soon. Watch this space!

Hi Guys!

I am excited because I am doing something a little bit different from what I’ve done in the past.
I have decided to create a “pictorial” (picture tutorial) to show you how I achieve a flawless base for my full face makeup looks.

I have two foundation/base routines that I always opt for depending on the situation. The first option is my quick “everyday” base and the second if the one I will be showing you in this blog post.

My “everyday” base is literally 5-mins long and it’s perfect for when I am going to work (on days I can be bothered to do it lol). I will make sure to create a separate post on it because I think it could also be suitable for young/first-timers interested in wearing makeup every day.

Alternatively, my “flawless”, full foundation base is the look I opt for when going out in the evening, to events or if I randomly get in the mood for a full face of make-up (lol).
I have specifically left out the details on the eyes and lips because I wanted to focus on the base, but I do have planned to do a few more posts including eye looks so stay posted

So let’s get started! P.S You might want to get some tea because its a long one :)

All Products Used:

1. Almond Oil / Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion
2. MAC Mineralise Eye Cream
3. Maybelline Baby Skin Primer
4. MAC Peach Lustre
5. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
6. NARS Radient Creamy Concealer
7. LA Girl HD Concealer
8. Sacha Cosmetics Buttercup Loose Setting Powder
9. Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick & Sleek Contour Kit in Medium
10. Bobbi Brown Bronzing Pressed Powder
11. MAC MSF in Medium Deep
12. MAC Raizin Blush
13. MAC Gold Deposit + MAC Cream Colour Base Improper Copper
14. MAC Fix + Spray
15. MAC Dipdown
16. Morphe 35N Eyeshadow Palette
17. Ardell Demi Wispies
18. Fashion Fair Light Brown Lip Liner + MAC Brave + MAC Velvet Teddy

Detailed Talk-through & Tips

1.       Start with clean base. Moisturise and spray a little amount of MAC’s Fix + to add more hydration to the skin. Allow the skin to absorb all of the product. If you used an oil, just wait 5 mins before proceeding.

2.       Apply an eye cream. You will only need the tiniest amount as a little goes a long way. Dab this very delicately into the eye area and wait for your skin to fully absorb the product. This can take about 1-2mins.

3.       Apply primer to the parts of your skin that you may need a little bit of smoothing out and also to the places that your foundation rubs off the easiest. I apply very quickly with my fingers.

4.       Apply a colour corrector. I specifically apply this to underneath my eyes, on my eye lids and around my mouth. Ensure to blend it seamlessly with a damp beauty blender.

5.       Apply foundation. Take a dense kabuki foundation brush and spray the tiniest amount on MAC’s Fix + onto it. Pump some foundation onto the back of your hand and let the product warm up for about 5 secs. Apply the foundation with the brush from the middle of our face going outwards ensuring to cover all the places that you colour corrected. Make sure to wait for you foundation to fully dry to ensure there is less movement later on.

6.       Apply concealer. Now go back in with a concealer over the spots that your foundation may not have completely covered. I only apply a little amount underneath my eyes and blend it out with my damp beauty blender.

7.       Apply highlighting concealer. I only apply a little amount underneath my eyes, on the bridge of my nose and on my forehead. Ensure to also blend seamlessly so that there are no harsh lines left.

8.       Set highlight. I now set my highlighted areas to ensure there is no movement underneath the eye (after all we have used a few products under the eye, you don’t want them all sliding onto your lap lol!). So, I use the tiniest amount of Sacha Buttercup Loose Powder on the flat side of my beauty blender to set. I’ve learnt the hardest way that I cannot use too much setting powder underneath my eye due to my skin type.

9.       Contour & Set. I do this very very subtly; I prefer a very subtle and feminine sculpt to the face. I only apply a little amount to the hollows of my cheeks and set with a complimentary contour powder. The idea of contouring is to create a shadow, so I do not go super dark/heavy when contouring, it just compliments my face a lot better. (Obviously, you can go a little heavier or even skip this step if you want to. There are no rules in makeup).

10.   Bronze that face! This is another optional step BUT it is one of my secret keys to warming up my face and marrying the highlighted and contoured parts of my face together.

11.   Set ya face! Be very light handed and literally dust your face with a light coverage or translucent powder. This will tone any extreme shine down.

12.   Apply a blush. Choose a blush that is complementary to your skin tone. I used MAC’s Raizin blush for this look – this is my go-to blush.

13.   Apply a highlighter. Using a fan brush, dust a highlighter powder on the highest points of your face. For a more intense and pigmented finish, spray MAC’s fix plus on to the fan brush prior to applying the highlight.

14.   Setting spray. My favourite part! My other half calls it “that spray thing” (lol sometimes I do my makeup in front of him). Set your face to remove the powdery look and bring back a more skin-like finish to the skin. I prefer this look!

15.   Do your eyebrows. Slap on your eyebrows gal, neaten them up and make them look as beautiful as ever but still natural. I will also create a separate blog post on this.

16.   Do your eye makeup. Depending on your preference or the type of look you’re going for, add some gorgeous eye makeup. I went for a more natural eye look.

17.   Dress your lips. Finish off the look with a complimentary lip combination. Don’t forget to take your lip products and a mirror out with you, if you’re heading out.

Important: My skin type is "normal", so I would highly recommend the products I have used if you have "normal" skin. This tutorial is still great if you have a different skin type, but make sure to use products that will suitable for your skin and will give you a long-wearing, flawless base.

There are several bloggers/YouTubers with oily skin types that have great product recommendations. I have listed three of my favourite below:

-          Jackie Aina
-          MakeUpDoll
-          Stephanie Lange

I hope this post is helpful and let me know if you would like to see more posts like this in the comments section!

What essential makeup products do you think I should try out? I’m always up for hearing what you guys use!

Hey Guys!

Here's a quick post and some helpful tips on how to take care of your curly hair extensions / weave on after you have had it installed for a few days.

Curly weave-on's have quickly become my favourite protective style this year and it is mainly because they are so so SO low maintenance! I just love being able to hop in the shower and my hair hair practically styling itself.

These tips are only recommended it you have 100% virgin human hair. And in case you were wondering I have two 30 inch bundles of  Malaysian Deep Wave Curly Hair and a 5x5 inch lace closure fitted (so all of my natural hair is hidden away underneath). I had a spare bundle left over but i didn't put it in as i thought my hair would be a little too dramatic on a day to day basis :)

So here's how I refresh my curls; limp and frizzy hair to curls that look alive and shiny this way >>>

1. Use a brush to completely brush out all your curls. When you are done, your hair should look like a huge frizzy afro. I use a denman or a paddle brush.

2. Use some water to completely wet your hair. I do this in the mornings in the shower and avoid getting any water on your roots/cornrows underneath (you might want to tilt you head to avoid this)

Tip: Use lukewarm to warm water. Do no use very hot water (i.e the same temperature you shower with). This can disrupt the curl pattern of the hair and train it get straighter over time. Any heat will do this.

3. Squeeze out any excess water by squeezing your hair from the tips of your hair towards the roots (this will enable you to get all the excess water out whist creating and defining curls). Then use a towel to pat hair if your hair is still dripping wet.

4. Use a leave in conditioner. I have so many of these because I think they make my life so much easier not only with my curly weaves BUT also on my natural hair. On this occasion, I sprayed the Aussie Lightweight Conditioning Sprays onto my hair.

5. Moisturise the hair with a small amoung of a lightweight oil. I mix two oils by OGX together and apply all over my hair, even the tips and the roots. This keeps the hair looking alive by adding great ingredients that will penetrate the hair strands, adding a subtle sheen to your curls.

6. Follow up with a curl defining gel.  I used "Set It Off: Curl Boosting Jelly" by ORS  (Organic Root Stimulator).

Tip: Avoid gels that will make the hair dry rock hair, crunchy or leave it with a crispy feeling. Yes, these gels exist, I only found out when I began my natural hair journey! The best ones are in the "Curls Unleashed" range by ORS.

7. If you decide to use a lace closure like I have, ensure to neaten up your parting and then use a hard density wooden brush to smooth the roots of your closure down and tame any fly-aways. I also add some gel if needed at this stage,

8. No worries if your hair is still a little damp when you have finished all these steps, curly hair dries very very quickly, you wont even notice!
